from daydreams to screen time

make dreams into reality

Hey there! My name’s Julia, your local Texan gal go-to journalist who covers a variety of K-pop groups! And if it’s a comeback, I am there!

I’ve been in the K-Pop scene for a long time, and I thought I could turn my hobby into a career as a journalist! I hope everyone will follow along with my journey and follow along my blog as well!

This course linked my love for K-pop with my goal of becoming a journalist. Learning about sustainable journalism revealed ways to support quality content through membership programs, brand partnerships, and merchandise, helping Daydreams to Screentime grow while maintaining its mission. These insights turned my project from a hobby into a lasting platform.

The ‘Business Plan: From Daydreams to Screentime’ assignment challenged me more than any other. It pushed me to look beyond the excitement of music and to see the intricate realities behind the scenes. Creating a detailed guide for K-pop training routines was especially challenging, given its complexity and cultural richness.

To tackle this, I dove into research, drew inspiration from pioneering K-pop projects, and reached out to industry insiders for advice. I incorporated these findings into my business plan, finding ways to support rigorous training while also caring for artists’ mental health. Facing this real-world challenge made me more resilient and flexible, helping me grow as both a journalist and an entrepreneur.

Looking back at my journey through this program, I feel proud of the distribution strategy I developed. What started as a simple idea grew into a lively, multi-channel approach—blogs, YouTube documentaries, and podcasts now connect fans all over the world. I began by identifying stories that would resonate with the K-pop community, then planned a content calendar to keep everything on track.

Starting a blog series helped me explore the topic, and as interest grew, I added documentaries and podcasts to maintain a professional image. Using social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and X/Twitter, I conveyed messages through targeted campaigns. Engaging with audiences was a key step, transforming my role from a fan to an advocate for respectful journalism of K-pop’s Korean origins and global influence.
